We offer optical metallographic examinations and services that consist of multi-staged process. A test specimen is prepared by sectioning, polishing and etching. It is then examined by our highly skilled metallurgist under magnification (in either the as-polished or etched condition).
Metallographic examination of the sample allows for determination of certain characteristics of material. These include the quality of material, the response to heat treatment, the grain structure and size, total case depth measurement, volume fraction, structural evaluation, weld quality and coating thickness measurements.
